What Am I
What am I?
What am I if not the epitome of defeat?
I am souls lost in squalor,
Dusted and drained I am left begging
On my knees bleeding praying for rain.
What am I?
If not a sun raised child,
Beaten bruised I shape phoenix.
Sand worn, sky stained, fire born.
I say fate should not be lost in scorn
What am I?
If not a promise at its purest.
Silver and wax sealed away. A question begged,
A parents say, a shrine that claims potential,
A figure in the shadows, i bring future.
What am i?
I tell you, I am not a rock in the turning tides of time.
I am a shifting murmur, birthed in a flickering lie.
I am a hopeful falsehood.
I am not a saint, but a prayer, at the foot of where a statue stood.
What am i?
I am a child, birthed in cradle.
New, youth, I preach growth, I pray truth.
I say dust, fire, dirt and shame
Oceans, fate, future, and rain.
