Faded Emotions
Life feels like a cruel joke
So I spend my time getting lost in smoke
I’m trying to find myself
But my book is somewhere on the highest shelf
What is life?
Why do i need to fake smile?
You don’t know but I’ve been doing it for a while.
I can’t explain how I feel
But I know it goes away when I pop a pill
I see things in a whole new light
When I’m soaring like a kite
What is life?
I’m trying to figure that out myself
But my book is on the highest shelf
In dark rooms I sit and think
Although I’d rather have the strongest drink
What is life?
Who knows.
I just do drugs until the pain go

A lot of people struggle with addiction, but no one fully understands their thoughts, emotions, or reasons for using drugs. I feel like this poem is a good illistration of how addicts feel and what goes on emotionally.
