Little Girl
A little girl on the playground
Daddy pushes the swing
“Higher, higher”
Her laughter sings
Soar high above
And don’t look down
You’re not afraid to hit the ground
It’s so easy, this dream of yours
Think it once and your little heart soars
You know the future is so darn bright
Your hope alone can bring new heights
Years later,
You walk with your head low
Too afraid of what’s down below
Don’t look up
Your hopes might fly
Sometimes it’s better to fail to try
What happened to this world of dreams?
Had so much life, now vacant, it seems
No excitement for the future, you’re on a dark path
Everything you took for granted, you want it all back
Those moments on the swing,
As small as they seem,
Will mean the world now
But they’re only in dreams

Growing up is rough. When you're young, you don't think about all the little things. You're small, you're dependent, and you're free. The world will be yours one day, and any and all of your dreams can come true if you put your mind to them. But as you grow, you see how fast things go and you lose the hope that your dreams will come to life. The moments that seemed so small and normal then are treasures now.
