My son, I’ll teach you how to Blacksmith
As long as you can hammer a sword
You’ll have me to stay back with
And never get sent off to war

My son, the Blacksmith
Here you’ll never see blood spilled
Every morning I wish
You never know how many you’ve killed

Stand by a hot forge, while other children play
They’ll grow up in armor, if they don’t learn a trade
Don’t shout at those who enlist, there’s no more honor here
The oldest trade secret, a Blacksmith’s trade is fear

The author's comments:

I read somewhere that the reason the last name "Smith" is so common is becuase blacksmiths never had to go off to war becuase they were allowed to stay back to make armor and weapons.
