A Dose of Honesty for the King
My mouth hangs open, for what you had said.
"A queen will you be? To rule over my land?"
I nodded my head but my throat had closed in the stark truth.
For I had sat down with a crown,
But that did not subdue the boiling void inside of my head.
For my eyes had not fallen for the King.
But they had fallen for the little boy pauper,
Who had sparkling eyes as he pleaded for only a kiss.
So I got up and placed my crown on its empty throne,
And I had walked out to find my little boy pauper;
and grant him his one wish for which he begged.
