I'm From the Lake
I’m from weekends on Pewaukee lake and
time with friends from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M.,
I’m from lobster skin to roasted marshmallows,
while hearing the waves crash against the boat.
I’m from encouragement during Little League games--
and time spent with supportive fathers.
I am relishing my adolescence...
while bickering to my Oma-- due to her dealing of cards,
I am doing 6 A.M. to 11 P.M weekdays forgetting what sleep is-
and making lifelong friendships.
I want to hear the boom of waves and laughter,
time ticking away without a thought.
I want to be lobster-skinned and a toasted marshmallow
while spending time observing croaking toads.
I want to encourage youngsters around the bases,
and time spent with cheering parents.
