I am afraid of the politicians,
With their evil, twisted ways.

They say peace will come,
But all we get are bodies,
Bodies of young men and women,
Young students who had futures,
They could’ve been scientists, doctors, writers,
But instead they are sent off,
To fight, to face terror, to die,
While a rich old man sits in his mansion,
And he says, “Everything is ok. The war is ending.”

I am afraid of the politicians,
And the brainwashing days.

Everyday we pledge allegiance,
We say we are in support,
No matter what the country does,
They say the bombs are supposed to help,
To heal, to keep us safe,
But they only damage,
They kill children,
The bombs open up more wounds,
On our already scarred bodies,
Every time they tell us,
“We will bring the troops home,
We will end this brutal war”,
But what happens?
More soldiers are sent,
The explosions only get worse,
The fighting doesn’t stop.

I am afraid of the politicians,
Delivering striking, hateful sprays.

“All men were created equal”,
Is pretty ironic for a country fueled on hate,
FIrst it was the blacks,
Then it was the women,
Next came the Mexicans,
Today the victims keep growin,
The gays,
The Muslims,
THe immigrants,
The Middle Easterns,
The Syrians,
The disabled,
America is a fire,
Lit in the 1700s,
Burning ever since,
The fuel, the twigs, the sticks, and logs,
Are all forms of hate,
The discrimination keeps our blaze going,
We have yet to discover the alternative,
Peace is an oil,
Burns longer and brighter,
Keeping our nation thriving,
WIthout all the bloodied up bodies,
And without hate,
That makes the victims feel worthless.

I am no longer afraid of the politicians,
I’ve seen what they are capable of,
It is time that we speak out.
