On Sunday
On Sunday I ran
over sidewalks and streets
cement roads and cobblestones
flying
under my feet
I tried my very hardest
to catch
the rainbow
that had arced over my house just moments before
When I lost sight
of my rainbow
I climbed fire escapes
and kept running
No one stopped to talk
to a crazy kid
running faster than
cars
glancing furiously at the sky
looking for my rainbow
And when I finally
couldn’t see my rainbow
anymore
I stopped
and sat down on the curb
Catching my breath
because I almost caught my rainbow
