Heart Disease is African Imperialism
Heart disease is a war,
my body is the battle zone.
Weapons scraping.
Fighters roaring.
Injured moaning.
Nothing left… ...but debris.
Heart disease is a war,
I am Africa
The victim for no reason
Innocent...
Vulnerable...
… frightened to death.
Heart disease is a war,
the epidemic is Europe.
Stronger weapons.
Better troops.
Striving forward,
Unstoppable.
Heart disease is a war,
the plague is poverty.
The four digit surgery fee
blocking my path like a wall,
keeping me
separated,
from freedom and cure.
BUT
Heart disease is a war,
there are survivors who lived.
Ethiopia and Zambia.
two nations that thrived.
Heart disease can be cured...
....and so can I.
Heart disease is a war,
there are companions nearby
I am not the only one
17 million other people in the world,
are born and battling the same burden,
We can team up to fight
in unison.
Heart disease is a war,
each day is a battle.
I may lose a battle,
but I will keep fighting,
until I win the war.
