I am Jim, a boy who lives in poverty
No home to go, I wander on the streets
Looking for food and shelter everywhere I go.

Grrrrrrrr
My stomach gurgled from
Not having dinner last night
I woke up so hungry that
I could have eaten an elephant
Wondering on the street
Hoping to find food
I came across a person
Throwing rice on the road
I was so angry my ear started to smoke
My head started to boil
Meanwhile I had no food
While he was just throwing away food
I felt like I could have thrown him
To the other side of the world
But I kept moving on.

It was noon, I was tired
No food or water
Huff
Huff
Huff
Heavily Breathing
I sat down, on the sidewalk,
I starting thinking about
The Family I used to have
Then, a man walked towards me
He gave me a loaf of Bread
And a bottle of water
The bread seemed to be smiling
Like it has finally found and owner
I turned to the man and thanked him
The day turned out not so bad as I thought

I felt like I could have ran a thousand miles
I stood up and started walking to find
My resting place for the night
The air was as wet as the sea
But still, it felt like
it was a thousand degrees.
I was melting rapidly
Like a candle being lit
As the sun goes down
And the temperature drops,
I found a spot so
That I could rest for the night
Sounds of crickets,
singing through the night
The beautiful sounds,
like a loving mother’s
lullaby.
    Chirp
    Chirp
    Chirp
The crickets kept chirping,
and as my vision faded
I drifted into a dream
Where I had
     A home
     A family
     A life…
