Trust Issues
Once upon a time…
You were my hero.
How could I have known you’d commit such a crime?
As I got older you went from hero to zero.
You were my world,
Used to put me on your shoulder so that the stars would be easier to reach;
But it was a dream world,
Created by your lies, then soaked in bleach.
You said you’d protect me,
Break any boy that hurt me.
But daddy who could have known that boy would be you?
You broke my heart like it was nothing, completely carefree.
You promised you’d always be there;
But you left.
Now it feels like I’m in a reoccurring nightmare.
Congratulations dad, you got away with heart theft.
