Dawn Until Dusk MAG
Tentatively, roots snake their way
through the unyielding sod
insects gnawing at the tips
halting its stride
On the surface, fragile petals
unfurl, catching the morning dew
warmth disappears, replaced by
fat drops weighing down its progress
With a mighty gust, the dismal
sky is cleared, replaced by
encouraging rays smiling
upon the plant’s golden leaves
Days pass, as do the seasons, gold turns to
brown as the last petal lands on the snow,
surrounding life flock to the scene
singing songs of the love once shared
as the stem withers to a memory
