A Poem for Hayden
Make it all go away;
You help make it go away
Even just for a minute,
Or an hour or two, or a day
With minimal cons and so many pros.
The way this ordinarily goes
Is after the stories you’ll move on
And I’ll be left with the crows.
But your eyes, underneath glasses, are blue
And in them I can see your truth.
You need not say what you want to say,
I hear you when you’re mute.
I see you with green eyes at rest;
Close, yet open; the worst yet the best.
Friends and lovers love alike.
I do not perceive the jest
And so, my friends, I wrote you a poem
(I hope you see what I want to show)
Because you help me find the words.
They all seem to flow.
