Fingerprints
Independant, brave, strong
The only way to portray her
Nothing, no one can bring her down
Gentle, caring, loving
From the first stitched cap on an infant's head
to the last batch of chocolate cookies
Her smile warms the coldest of hearts
touching everyone and everything
giving love without a second thought
Glimpses of her past are woven
into strands of joy intertwined with heartache
spoken of her husband long past
She unravels acclaimed tales
to her adoring grandchildren
all hypnotized by every word
Never asking, always giving
except for the occasional jigsaw
around the holiday season
She travels through villages, cities
then bringing it back for me
to create my own fingerprints on the world
