The First One

Shifting through the trees,

trying not to make a sound, the

occasional crunch of a leaf

Reaching the ladder,

getting comfortable, preparing

for a long sit

I watch the giddy squirrels,

there loud noise keeps me

alert

Finally a deer

Sitting still

Only my eyes watch,

She stops

I raise my shotgun, putting her

in my sights

Click

Boom

Drops like rag doll, flimsy.

Refocusing I spot the beast.

Excitement pumps through me,

as I galloped to my first trophy
