Erasure
Lately I have been feeling like a fading night light while she combusts into your sun
And I hate the way she arrogantly stitches herself right over the memories we used to cling to
You would've never let this happen six months ago when I weaved you a shoulder to cry on from my own flesh
You say she 'just understands' but she won't understand your tears at 3 a.m. when the wounds your past left on you rip themselves open again for the hundredth time this week
You say you get lost in her beautiful blue eyes but you've always said I was the one who found you when you lost yourself
But in the end she's exciting and new and I'm just an old friend with dust concealing my name
And why should you bother to relearn mine when you could just write over top of it with hers
