Universal Daydream
Daydreams Are Universal
As a child, we all sit and stare off pondering the impossible
Miniscule dreamlike films flashing before glazed eyes
Vibrant colored lasers flashing by a cockpit
The sounds of the jungle teasing the ear
Imaginary tales that adults chuckle at
“Grow up, Kid”
But, I never stopped.
As I grow older I learn more and more that daydreams
Are a universal human quirk
Imaginations aren’t childish
They are just a natural escape from the ever growing stress of life.
Not all daydream the same though
Some like to shut out all outside sensory input and become one with the mind
Others like to walk through a serene forest with nothing but open minds
But, I do neither.
I
Slip my headset over my ears
Flip the power switch
Grip my mouse
Plant my wrist behind a keyboard
And explore the worlds that others like me have created
Take the roles of countless fictional beings
Take control of a world that I can mold to my perfection
My very own grown up daydream
