Maybe There's a Reason
A silent man in spilling robes,
With coiled grapevines creeping through,
His sacred lips speak covenants,
But tell me, does he have a clue?
A sweet-tongued leader singing out
His promise for a mended land,
But when the ravens sidle past,
Tell me, will his promise stand?
A little girl beneath the stars,
With golden blossoms in her hair,
But watch her shriveled wings be clipped
Within a dark and silent lair.
Maybe there's a reason
The truth will never speak,
But as long as I have avid breath,
This deep desire I will keep.
And truth I will forever seek.
