I am afraid
Of stepping out of line
Everyone else
Is hopeful
But I am afraid
New ideas
New promise
New fear
I touch
The worry lines
Of my mama
Worry lines
That weren't there before
They never said
The worry would come
But it came
I pretend to be
Perfect
Unblemished
Because
That's what they want me to be
Because
Being a person
Isn't good enough
You have to be
Untouchable
