Innocent Creatures
They are as innocent as the lily that floats in the breeze,
they are as pure as the soft petals on the peonies.
They roam the earth’s plane, like wanderers in wonderland,
from forests, to mountains, to sea, and to sand.
But why do we take them away from their homes,
where they will be caged and can never roam?
But why do we take them away from their families,
where they are promised a new unhappy reality?
When a human looks into their eyes,
what do they see, any soul, any life?
Because when I look into their eyes,
I see a life, a soul, and a creature so wise.
