Stardust
I want
to create constellations
out of your veins
dust off your aching bones
until they’re empty and fill them with
the same feeling you get when you see the first snowfall of winter
I want
to capitalize the colors of your skin
wrap myself up inside your chest
construct a cavity in your mind so you won’t forget me
I want
to be your sunshine on a rainy day
parade around your mind
complete with marching bands and sticky candy
because
one day we will return to stardust
and become simply fragments
but I want to be sure
I loved you well
and I loved you long
