condensation stuck
to the lip of the bottle
and I drank the swill
down to the bottom
until nothing was left
just the backwash of
spit in the can
as thunder rumbled in the
distance and the earth
prepared to be overtaken
by a deluge of rain
w\ashing the streets
with their tear drops
