Late-Night Drives
You call me at 3 in the morning
Asking if I want to hang out
Late night exploring has always been my thing-
We both thrive on adrenaline rushes,
But you already knew that.
Your car pulls into my driveway
And I sneak out through my window.
The screen pops out with ease:
A side-effect of frequent escape,
But I already knew that.
The roads are dark and empty
And we grab each others hands
In some attempt to find comfort.
We could be great together, in this moment
But neither of us knew that.
We inhale the breeze by the ocean,
Joy fills our veins and we bask in silence.
Our gaze locks and our smiles match;
This cannot continue in the morning,
But we already knew that.
