Beauty Is A Currency
I want to be beautiful
I want to be someone of worth
I want someone to look at me and smile,
not look at me and smirk.
this wish is cliche
my desire is a common one
but when you live in a world that values
the sharp lines of your face more
than the sharp wit of your brain
what choice do you have.
Beauty is a currency
and I’m running low
Some have an endless supply
they spend it on love that comes easy,
friends and lovers and opportunities
are easier to get when you have a pretty face.
