What Happens When We're Broken
So the broken boy,
And splintered girl
Tried fixing each other.
And maybe they tried
Just a little too fast,
Or maybe too hard.
Because the promises
Disintegrated within months;
Their plans shattered,
The happiness destroyed,
Their love murdered,
Their worlds collided
And were crushed
By those pieces
That spread cracks
In their dreaming souls.
Because, even though
They didn't mean to,
They hurt each other.
More than they helped.
The broken boy tasted
Real love and compassion.
He felt it and gave it.
But he let it go,
And that destroyed him.
He wants the feelings back;
Someone to feel the same.
He couldn't just "not care" anymore.
His life forever changed,
And he unable to fix it.
The splintered girl
Had loved before,
And lost everything.
She felt something in return
From the broken boy,
And she thought it real;
Maybe he was different.
But then he left like everyone else,
And she couldn't just "keep caring."
Not after him.
So the broken boy,
And splintered girl
Tried fixing each other.
And maybe they tried
Just a little too fast,
Or maybe too hard.
It's really not fair.
They had good intentions;
They truly loved,
Even if it wasn't for long.
The broken boy was filled,
With all the "too many" emotions
The splintered girl held,
And left her heart empty.
He now searches for another
To love him like she did,
Whom he could love back.
She now has given up hope,
Refusing any feelings,
And avoiding anyone who had them.
Because when they separated,
They were both more broken
Than before they met;
Simply cracked wide open.
