A Life of Color
Everybody wants happiness,
And no one wants pain.
But you can’t have a rainbow
Without a little rain.
Everybody wants comfort,
And no one wants change.
But a rainbow has many colors,
Not just one shade.
A good life is full of color.
Some days will be blue-grey,
Like the stormy sky
On a rainy day.
And some days will be yellow,
Like our big bright sun.
There’s a lot of good in this life,
Like laughing with friends,
Or watching a sweet infant
Drift off to sleep.
But there’s also a lot that isn’t good,
Like getting your heart broken,
Or the dark loneliness
That often closes in.
Don’t back down from living your life,
Fearing the black of darkness.
Cause if you avoid the bad,
You can’t enjoy the good.
If you only use yellow,
Tossing the blue aside,
The yellow will eventually fade,
And you’ll never see the green.
Speak the word that’s on your tongue,
Say it loud for all to hear.
Let your heart be full of love,
Wear it proud for all to see.
Don’t back down from living your life,
Fearing the black of darkness.
