An Impossible Romance

Night falls quickly and quietly
retracing her paths from a time unknown.
With Night's appearance
the Clouds, curious creatures,
shed their day dresses
for costumes best suited for darkness.
Day ends as he always has
lingering, hoping to catch a glimpse of Night,
what her darkness holds
but as the Sun sets so must Day.
Night chases Day away from her secrets,
while Day exposes his with his gaze.
Their impossible romance
for day it is full of mystery
for night it is reptitive.
