Selfish
I feel I have not found,
And perhaps I never will,
An efficient way of expressing
The selfishness of an individual.
I cannot express enough
My hatred for the character
Who complains of all their plights –
Which are, apparently, the fault of others.
I cannot express my disgust
For those who want to see failings
To prove they’ve gotten better.
I LOATHE to see the sorrows –
Grown by loss of non-blood brothers.
I wish I did not have to see
The incessant strikes at those who care
By the selfish one who has lost,
Who cannot seem to see difference
In the present and the past.
Surely they must realize they ignore
Those who care,
For those who do not feel the same.
This is not fair.
I am lost at the selfish individual
Who feels they’ve lost the most –
And I do not know how to write them
In the light that they deserve.
I almost hate this person,
Sometimes I’m sure I do.
I just want to make clear –
This individual is not you.
This may not seem the case,
But I want you to be sure –
This selfish one I speak of is myself.
So please now rest assured.
