Across The Room
Across the room, just a few feet away, was a different me.
Why can't I reach her?
She's faster, smarter.
I'd have to work harder
To become her.
Across the room, just a few feet away, was the perfect daughter.
She didn't try to commit.
She didn't try to ruin it. Their life.
She made it better, brighter.
They were glad to have her.
Across the room, just a few feet behind,
Was the old me.
I am new, changed.
I am scarred, deranged.
I am who I choose to be.
I am me.
