Rule #1 of writing poems
Never write poems about someone you love
someone who you know can hold you tighter than ever
someone whose warmth you can feel resonate
someone whose skin feels like alabaster, so smooth
someone whose smile can break you heart
Never write poems about someone you can picture sipping coffee with
someone who will read while you write on a Sunday afternoon
someone who will grab you by the waist and inhale your essence
someone who will let you grow
someone who will intertwine fingers with you
Never write poems about someone who doesn’t say hi
someone who doesn’t speak up
someone who stares at you
someone who doesn’t gaze at you with moons
someone who doesn’t try and fit the galaxy in you hand and the universe in your pocket
Never write poems about someone who doesn’t follow the first rule of writing poems
