The Eye-Opening Truth
A sinister, silent threat,
Clawing at the skin
of the black rhino.
Eating away at the insides
of the Siberian tiger.
Scratching away at the bones
of the African elephant
until they are dust.
Restless.
Ruthless.
Relentless,
like a hungry mother lion
hunting for food.
Is a cup fashioned of ivory,
really more important
then a life?
Are polar bear rugs,
and snow leopard teeth,
really more important
then a life?
We are all Gods children.
When will we learn,
that some day,
the magnificent tiger,
the nimble leopard,
the fearless elephant,
and the strong rhino,
will be gone.
Wiped away
from the face of our earth
unless we stop this shadowy online trade
of our sisters and brothers.
Our great-great-great grandchildren
may only know of the majestic Malayan tiger,
the giant orangutan,
and the lively sea turtles
through words and pictures
of a book.
We who destroy them,
are the only ones
who can save them.
