Ouch, That Hurt
Silent tears slide down the face,
Leaving nothing but a somber, salty trace.
A single stream of defeat flows,
Trailing the cheek, and tracing the nose.
Sadness is building, the soul grows cold,
These feelings are becoming too much to hold.
A quivering lip, and watery eyes,
Puckered chin, trying not to cry.
The shaking voice and the gasping for breath;
The life that you know has come to a rest.
A weeping white heart aching for an answer,
But the words too much to bear; an insidious cancer.
Days pass by, and the tears finally dry,
But you didn’t even get to say a last goodbye.
The pain inside is visible, like a black and blue bruise.
You don’t even hide it, because you have nothing to lose.
