riverbank
We stand steadfast
in the River of Death,
against a roaring current
that threatens to take
our everything away
at any second
of any hour
of any day.
Some throw themselves
into the current,
wanting to leave
the rest of mankind
to find their own
riverbank.
Some are weakened
by the constant battering
of the river and
cannot stand with us
any longer.
We stand in the wake
of a wave much bigger
than all of us
that threatens to wipe us
from the River itself.
When the water sinks again
there will always
be someone there
standing steadfast
against the current of Death.

I hope that this poem isn't depressing, rather, inspiring. There's always going to be someone there, and some teens can forget that.
