I am from Marilyn and Werner,
Jovial memories of pie alamode.
From “There’s always room for ice cream,”
“it slips between the cracks.”
From the car accident that took Grandpa and left tears,
And from the sepsis that stole Grandma and left emptiness.

Always waiting for me on my pillow,
Sat a plush purple bunny,
His floppy ears are good listeners,
And his smiles reassuring.
