Rose Colored Shards of Glass
Rose colored shards of glass
hidden away in a drawer
lend me pain, so maybe one day
I can forget everything.
Rose colored shards of glass
let me bleed to help this pass
drain away sadness and sorrow
until I can't feel the pain any longer.
Rose colored shards of glass
you hold my happiness
in the serated edges of your blades,
on your stained smooth surfaces
Rose colored shards of glass
You are me:
shattered, overused,
sullied by fear and pain.
Rose colored shards of glass
Do it now!
Rose colored shards of glass
This time it is too much!
Rose colored shards of glass
Don't hesitate!
Rose colored shards of glass
This time I can't wait.

Although I have never experienced self harm, many near to me have. This poem is a reflection of how I feel their pain.
