you never saw it

the beacon of hope

you retreat behind your Great Wall

scared to see

reality flashing

your legs were weak

to run across the Hanging Bridge

you saw no pair of wings

but the curse of gravity

how deep was your courage

was it like the Mariana's Trench?

yet why could I

fathom it with ease?

you never needed

to writhe inside the box

you were a Pyramid

you belonged to the top

but you remained mediocre

invisible

not too bold to be seen

you kept your head low

though you could be an Everest

you dug your fingers

inside your pockets

afraid to see the scars

and bruises you inflicted

you never realized

your fingers could paint

the beauty of the world

but oh I forgot

you never saw it

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem because I was inspired by the song Invisible by Hunter Hayes. The lyrics that keep me moving forward say:

Never be afraid of doing something different

Dare to be something more
