Mona Lisa
Mona Lisa is an object, she is beautiful.
I thought objectification meant i was art.
And it wasn't until recently that it hit me :
nobody gives a damn what Mona Lisa’s favorite song is.
Nobody asks her about her favorite book,
but lifetimes are spent studying the way
her neck blends to chest blends to breast.
God, what a beautiful green.
I am sorry, dear Mona, that I do not speak
when I have the voice you don’t.
I’m sorry I let myself become
two dimensional when I’ve got the choice.
I’ve got the choice to let him know
what I stand for,
but instead I let him gawk at the way
neck blends to chest blends to breast,
take a picture, and walk away.
