"I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right." -Liesel Meminger via Markus Zusac, "The Book Thief"

When the monsoon's done with ocean's lores

and mountains don't feel cold any more

For the blanket of snow glows warm and soft

and rivers now flow so light, so loft

the wheels of iron they rotate no more;

an entire nation sheds its load.

From the mountain hut a maiden emerges

beyond the lake and Druk Xo's gorges

Under the tree (now centuries old)

she comes and lights a sun of gold

and children come and hear their tales

how once a light from heavens fell

though they don't get what man has etched

they will read what the stars sketch

and in this night, so warm and bright

when times have written their faces alight

Faraway travellers on land see stars-

and how they wonder, what we are.

The author's comments:

All electricity in my country comes from hydropower. In winter, since the water flow substantially decreases, our electricity production goes down and we have power cuts. Ths poem is about the spiritual awakening that this darkness has invoked upon the people.

@Beila Thank you very much, I'm specially glad that you liked the nursery rhyme reference, I wasn't very sure about that while writing it. It is a really big honour to have 'touched' someone, that is , after all, a major aim of writing. Thank you, again.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." -Mark Twain

I found this poem unexpectedly and enchantingly stunning. The Twinkle Twinkle reference is perhaps the most peculiar way I have ever seen a writer get to my heart, but somehow, it was perfect. Consider me touched.
