Rejection
My fear is not my own
Rather, it is controlled by everyone, as well.
It belongs to total strangers, friends, and family.
It is not just my fear, though.
It is everyone’s
It hides in the back of my mind
Like a beast in the shadows, ready to pounce
Waiting for the perfect moment, to attack
And drag me back into its lair
My fear keeps me from seeing people
It holds me back from making new friends.
Funny how a single thought can
Completely control your actions.
Sometimes, though, people force me to endure that fear
And when that happens, I am grateful
For I know, that if they didn’t push me
I could never do it on my own

This was a project for English that we had to write about our fear. This is mine.
