Jack and jane
They locked jane up,
in a room of pink and daffodils.
Gave her dolls and dresses,
so she might learn to love, and be pretty.
They threw Jack out,
into the classroom and combat.
gave him pens and a pistol,
so he might learn to build and destroy.
Jack built jane a tower of promises,
she filled it with nice things.
lace and meringues and babies.
But then the greed came,
the anger,
the lust,
the pride.
Jack wrecked the tower.
It was all he knew to do.
jane stayed in the room,
stayed in the tower,
seethingly content with her pretty things.
Lace, meringues, and babies.
