Finally
Gone.
pain
pressure
struggle
Vanished.
Pondering life so far
peered out window
Barren branches
glazed with sparkling ice
glassy on outside
sharp enough to cut.
Once pure snow
now melting to slush
triumph to torture
Sky above held wounded sun
obscured by greedy clouds.
At once
rain begins to pour
falling slowly then all at once
mixed with snow to form
brown liquid.
Seeped into gutters,
crevices,
seemingly into my soul.
I breathed.
Steady.
My own hands control
my own fate.
Blink once, gone.
Blink twice, never left.
Push open window
place trembling foot on ledge.
Soaring through chilling breeze.
Suddenly, wave of freedom courses
through veins
and awakens me.
Eyes wide open
yet completely closed
Body slams against concrete.
Bones break.
Heart stops.
Torn body resting on ground.
Mind has already escaped
running like a rumor
away from it all.
I’ve landed.
