"If there is no such thing as magic...then what is writing?."-authoress17 (me)

There is a way they think we are,

A way that we will be

How can they think this of us,

When they have never seen

So great the world believes it is,

So boastful, so grand,

But we alone know the truth,

Of its evil hand

Yes, we will be put down,

Crushed in utter despair,

But we will rise above these words,

These taunts and stereotypes

Nary will it speak again,

Finding who we are

For when the world sees our beauty,

It will never win

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece because there are so many stereotypes in the world. Everyone has felt judged and belittled, but it is important to remember that it doesn't matter what others think.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! That's what this poem is truly about; breaking away from the stereotypes, no matter what they are and being yourself. I'm so glad that you felt inspried by this piece, it's one of my favorites that I have written. Thanks again for taking the time to read and comment on my work. It is greatly appreciated.

&quot;When you need something to believe in, believe in yourself.&quot;<br /> &quot;A poem unwritten is only a thought; unshared, unsaid...&quot;

This poem is so elegant and thought-evoking and so true...you've inspired me and brightened my day, so I thank you! :) One of our greatest challenges in life is to break free of the stereotypes and labels that we've been trapped under, and figure out who we truly are, and then be that person. And you've expressed this thought beautifully! I hope many others will read this poem and be able to relate to it, and to be inspired, as I have :) Fantastic work! Thank you again for posting this!! :)
