I remember
Summers with my bestfriend
By the early nights of July
to the sounds of soft crickets
and the gentle winds brushing our bodies
as we sit motionless hearing the water sway gently
although it were dancing
indulged by the darkness of the night
surrounding us
our skin shaded from the sun of the day
and our knees scraped from the brush of the woods
I can still see the look in your eyes
before we rise to jump in
as the cold of the water overtook us
and the adrenaline ran through our bodies
I remember when you told me
that my hair had curled almost as much as yours
from the tangle of the waves
and the carelessness of appearances
but what I remember most,
is the way we laughed
so hard
until our smiles hurt
and our stomachs ached
