Pondering the End
How will the end arrive?
We ponder this often, forgetting we are still alive.
Will the devil arise in a human disguise?
Or shall we be the masters of our own demise?
Will we crumble our home to ashes
with weapons worn proudly like sashes?
Will solid earth shatter
from the weight of our problems that so seem to matter?
Will the rivers run red
with fear-infused blood of the dead?
Will corpses rise to a chorus of living cries?
Or wouldn’t it be a delight,
for it all to end in a flash of light?
