Open Oceans
Ocean Floors
My biggest fear is drowning
It is the worst way to die
Suffocated with burning anguished screams for help
incapable of crying
tears just get lost in the waves
what makes us human is our ability to express emotion
our ability to smile in times of happiness
and to cry in times of pain or weakness
so if you can’t cry
not only are you dying
but you may as well be inanimate
359,000 per year end their lives equivalent to a blade of grass
unable to cry
unable to inhale
unable to change their fate
barely soaking up the sun light within their last few seconds
The Universe tiptoeing on a bridge just feet away from the water
balanced delicately between drive and fate
I know one day it will collapse
but when it does I am going to dive in head first
and right before I am submerged
taking in the deepest breath I can
gazing at the sky for one last time
and plunge into the seas
Swim to the bottom
All the way down to the unexplored ocean floors
And I’ll wait
so far down even sunlight won’t cut through the darkness
I am going to close my eyes and paint;
my thoughts will create the art
and if a picture is worth a thousand words
and words are simply articulated syllables
made from manipulated air
then it will be the same as breathing
I may just live forever
But if my imagination does fail me
and the musky waters appear to provide my demise
When my gallery has no more images
I’ll make sure to staple my mouth shut so my lungs with remain dry
I will not gasp air
I will not struggle
I will simply search for more pictures
and they’ll come because I’ve decided my fate
I will not drown
