A Ticking Clock
Lying on a blanket of luscious green,
I look up to the sky and see a pillar or red, flaunting its emerald crown.
The bricks in case a sphere of time,
ticking silently away as forgotten moments slip by.
Grey sky mourns the seconds that will never return,
an unyielding shield against blinding light.
Its tear drops threaten to taint our emotionless day.
Columns of wood stand erect,
arms reaching out to comfort the sky in a loving embrace.
Witnessing it all is the students,
bustling about with an eagerness to fill their empty heads.
Lack of sleep plays on their faces,
as they regret the months of late night study sessions, and frat parties.
Too tired to notice that the world continues to revolve without them.
