I am from faith that soars to evil in my core.
I am from never rich and never poor.
I am from Hip-Hop like “Fo Shizzle My Nizzle” to country with a fiddle.
I am from the middle.

I am from half-country and half-city.
I am from influential suburbs with excess to spare
to run down neighborhoods with zero good and only fear.
I am from the homeless and the millionaire.

I am from White Washed Pharisees to those drowning in sin.
I am from “Oops I Did It Again” like that Britney Spear lyric
from trying to save my friends from drowning their fears in spirits
I am from an half hearted spirit.

I am from esteemed meals on granite counter tops
to seeing fiends kneel on cold ground for crack rocks.
I am from the land of the free and home of the brave.
I am from the land of the victim and eternally enslaved.

I am from contradiction,
a lukewarm complexity of comfort and vanity.
I am from those who sell their souls to gain the world,
those still held down by this world’s gravity,
to those who sell the world to gain their souls
those who have seen a bigger picture than humanity.

I am equidistant from both pain and pleasure.
I am from the more and the lesser.
I am from transgressors, the formation of a rebellion,
to possessors of a relationship with heaven.
I am from the middle.
