What We Are
If what we are is less than infinite, there is no point. I want a breath I can hold under icy waters. I’ve never wanted a rush of air and fire, fire burns. It leaves scars. If what we have isn’t slow and warm, like roasting marshmallows or drinking tea, I don’t want it. Because I want a radiator, not a flame.
If what you give me is vast, immense, I wont take it. Don’t hand me the world to burden my back or the sky to convolve my wings. I don’t need to be humbled. Don’t buy me with fickle words or flower petals. Don’t buy me anything. Just take my hand and lead me to midnight.
If what you say isn’t strong and concise, don’t say anything. Half- truths are lies, and soft words aren’t charming when they hide a mortal blow. So, if your eyes aren’t enough to keep me looking, don’t look. Give in. Give up. Walk away. I don’t need a hero, a knight or a Tiger to save me or steal me. I just need a guy who doesn’t see me as a quest. I can't be completed.
If what we have is less than flawed, I don’t want it. Because the most beautiful walls are graffitied. And the most well loved books are bent.
