Homesick

I was taught that homesickness is an ailment derived from being away from a place

But no one told me that “home” could be a person

That his body would be my bed

his eyes my windows

and his hugs my fireplace

I felt more grounded in his arms than I ever did standing in my own living room

Believe me when I say that having a house has nothing to do with geography

It concerns the way I crave his presence when I’m alone

and the way his voice has become my favorite song

So turn on the porch lights, baby

because I’m coming home.

I currently fell in love for the first time and I've never been drunk but sometimes he makes me feel that way. This is dedicated to him, because he feels like home.
