“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” -Marilyn Monroe

I see the girl that they WANT me to be, and that’s who I want to be

I stare at the reflection of who I am currently, and I hate what I see

Sometimes I try to change (metamorphosis sculpting slowly)

But my alter gets the better of me.

                The Turning of the Tables:

Vociferously

Seductively,

Help me. I try to light it, and sometimes I win.

This isn’t me. I lose and I gain control go back and forth until I eventually give in.

THIS ISN’T ME!

Everything goes black obscuring any signs of clarity.

I turn into her.

Lights go on I’m staring at a girl before the mirror.

Same brown eyes.

Curly hair.

Brown skin.

Gapped teeth.

Pencil in hand pressed to the words I just wrote.

She isn’t… She can’t.. be…me

Who is she?

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.

This is so similar to a poem that I wrote, with a similar subject. I love it. I think it's very well-written, and very vivid. Your words paint pictures. I was there, if that makes sense. I can connect to it. Because a long time ago, I used to wonder who I used to be? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't believe me, when I say that it took me years to finally find out who I am, haha. Your poem is absolutely wonderful! You have a lot of talent. Thank you for sharing this!
